Chris Heath wins Guildford Major

Chris Heath wins Guildford

The Guildford FIDE Congress was held over the weekend at the University of Surrey campus. It was a very impressive competition, superbly well organised and highly recommended to all.

We all put put on solid performances - Ian Comley and Phil Stimpson scored 3/5, Rob McDonald and Bob Lanzer 2.5/5, Jordy Savill 2/5.

The star of the show was undoubtedly Chris Heath who scored 4.5/5 only dropping a half point by taking a bye in the interests of marital harmony. His performance rating was an incredible 2564 so an absolutely outstanding performance! Congratulations for a fine result.

Well done all who took part and in particular to Chris

I agree with Anthony - well done all, but a magnificent achievement by Chris!
Definitely the result of a lifetime!

Given my appalling season so far, particularly for Horsham 2, this reminds me of monkeys writing Shakespeare. As an aside, my performance rating, if indeed correctly calculated (?) suggests a ludicrous anomaly in the system...but if that gives me 15 minutes of fame, I'm not complaining!
