Horsham players excel at congress

At the recent Hampshire Congress (3rd-5th November) several Horsham players were successful and some even came away with the spoils...

Four Horsham players took part, with Daniel Miller and Robert McDonald both competing in the Major section, whilst Ben Hermanns (studying at a local uni currently!) and James Leare took part in the Minor section.

In the Major, Daniel scored 4/6 and won the U1750 grading prize, and indeed was in contention to win the whole section until a final-round defeat to the eventual winner left him 6th on tiebreak. Robert also scored 4/6 and finished 7th.

In the Minor, Ben scored 4/6 winning the U1450 grading prize, only losing to the eventual winner in round 5. James scored 2/6 and gained rating points due to facing strong opponents.

So well done to everyone who took part, and if anyone else has congress success don't be shy - it gives me plenty to report on at the AGM!!
