Horsham players do battle at Weald Congress

Several Horsham players, adult and junior alike, entered the local Weald Congress held at Copthorne Prep School last weekend. The congress is often attended by many familiar faces from around the Sussex county circuit as well as many up and coming juniors. This year's top seed in the Open section was Lithuanian IM Gediminas Sarakauskas.

In the Open section Gavin Lock scored 2.5/5, finishing just out of the prizes. In the Major section Melusi Nkomo scored 3/5, winning the U140 grading prize (pictured), whilst Chris Heath scored 1.5/5. In the Intermediate section Matthew Forster won the U110 grading prize with 3.5/5, with Paul Richardson only half a point behind on 3/5. Finally in the Minor section Zevon Rustom performed above his grading with 2/5.
