Congratulations to Anthony Higgs who can not be caught in the Rook now.

Paul Taylor wins Lightning

Another great evening with some howling errors (mainly mine) and some attacking chess. Anthony Higgs achieved 6.5/7 but still had to have a play off with Phil Stimpson - with Phil going through to the final to play Paul Taylor.

In an exciting couple of games Paul finally won to make him champion!

The first blunder was from me as once again we had white on evens,

Jon lost the exchange and soon after the game in a queens Indian with neither player castling, Julie had time trouble and missed the opportunity to equalise with RxR+ before Norman exchanged the last pair of Rooks and gained a piece. Gary got his bishop trapped in a difficult position while in my game Bob allowed me to fork both Knights with Queen by move 11 in a Sicilian-French

Horsham win the Paul Watson Trophy !

Last night (7 May) Horsham visited Lewes to play the final of the Paul Watson trophy. This is a 4 board competition with a maximum Team total grading of 600 – and a Quickplay time limit. The gradings worked out practically identical,so a close result was likely.
